Last week I was perusing the internet looking at various things on Etsy when I fell hard and fast for this globe. It’s one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen, however… with that $225 price tag I knew there was no way I could EVER convince Wes that we needed it. I mean, We could backsplash the kitchen for that much! So I went to work on figuring out how to make something similar for our home that wouldn’t break the budget!
While wandering around ROSS I came across the cutest little black globe on sale for $16.99. Which if you’re like me and not good at math, $16.99 is a LOT less than $225.00! So I picked it up and decided I would figure out what to do with it later!
We’re also in the middle of
the MOST ANNOYING PROCESS EVER Repaintings all the trim and baseboards in the house so glossy white paint is easy to come by over here. I’m using Behr’s Ultra Pure White Semi Gloss Paint on all the trim so I decided to use it for this project as well for many reasons.
1. No VOC- safe to breathe in makes me feel good about using it in any room of the house!
2. Paint+Primer in one- I knew painting White on Black could be a challenge if I tried to use something like craft paint but the paint and primer in one made things much easier
3. This stuff is far more wash-able than craft paint.
To start with I sketched out what I wanted the finished product to look like with a piece of chalk ( I could have used a pencil or something similar but give than ours is black.. chalk was pretty much my only option here!) and then after getting my letter placing and spacing as I wanted it, I went over everything with a few coats of paint.
And, 30 minutes later I ended up with this! I’m really loving this new addition to our decor. AND the fact that I only spent 30 minutes, $16.99+paint I already had on hand! Feel free to give this project a spin for yourself! I’d love to see how yours turns out!
